Betazed, in Star Trek TV series and movies, is a planet whose people has telepathic powers. The most known Betazoid in Star Trek is a woman, Deanna Troi, role performed by actress Marina Sirtis. We could meet Marina Sirtis at Italian Convention DeepCon 10, held in March 2009. She loves pets too, cats and dogs, and she told us she used to have up to six of them with her. She definitely agrees about cats, who seems to be telepaths as any good Betazoid should be, and for sure are able to understand human emotions better than most of humans themselves.
